Job Description


What we are after: 

Reporting into the COO of the Red Group, Mark Worrall, the IT Systems Engineer will be ‘hands on’ and be the main custodian for the Group’s operational requirements relating to “hardware, software, infrastructure and connectivity. They will be responsible for making sure that the Group’s network infrastructure and associated systems run smoothly, perform within agreed targets, and provide a secure platform for the Group’s business operations.  

Key responsibilities are but not limited to: 

 Providing support to Windows 7/8/10 users using MS Office 2010/2013/2016

 Managing Windows Server 2008

 Managing Exchange 2010

 Providing support to Mac OSX users

 Troubleshooting local wired and wireless network 

 Provisioning new computers 

 Provisioning phones and managing Digium phone system

 Managing Linux servers (Ubuntu)

 Liaising with cloud hosting providers, such as Rackspace and Azure, on behalf of development teams

 Maintaining and documenting a clear Information Security Policy for the group including PCI compliance

Qualifications and experience required: 

 The IT Systems Engineer should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, and 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience. 

 Project management experience and working to project deadline  

 An in-depth understanding of Microsoft operating systems and Office applications

 A working understanding of any relevant government regulations

 Experience in managing remote infrastructure across multiple time-zones

 Experience of computer engineering, programming, networking or database management is desirable and an advantage 

 Experience of the following skills are desirable and will be seen as an advantage:

o L1 & L2 support for users on Windows 7/8/10 using MS Office 2010/2013/2016

o Windows Server 2008 and Exchange 2010 or SBS 2011

o Troubleshooting network connectivity - wired & Ruckus Wi-Fi

o VOIP phone systems 

o Online servers

o Rackspace and Azure cloud providers 

o Linux servers (Ubuntu 14.04)

Salary: £36,000 per annum 

Additional package information: 23 days’ holiday + bank holidays
