Job Description

What will I be doing in this role?

In this role you will be supporting one of our beneficiaries in Scarborough.  The lady is elderly and lives in a large care home.  She is supported within the care home and we are looking for a volunteer to go and visit her, to check in and help reduce social isolation often felt by the elderly. 


Visits initially would involve going and visiting to have a cup of tea and chat to build up trust and familiarity.

What skills do I need for this role?


  • Friendly and approachable
  • Experience of working with people with dementia would be beneficial.
  • Reliable and patient
  • Interested in others
  • Able to use initiative and work autonomously
  • Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
  • Willing to volunteer within guidelines and to take direction where necessary
  • Good communication and listening skills


What days and times do I need to be available?


This is a flexible volunteer role, we ask that you make a minimum of 6 visits per year.  This is once every 8 weeks. Visits can range from between 1hr – 2 hrs.
